Call me naive, I really thought it had arrived.
I was cleaning the house with the windows open & pulling out all of the Spring things that I keep in the basement all winter long. I cleaned my sink, vacuumed the blinds... I was on a Spring Cleaning roll. And then it got cold. And to be honest, I just feel like curling up in front of the fire.

My best tip is to hire the hutterite women to come and clean! Why clean your old rickety house, when you can pay people who love to clean to clean it??!!
ReplyDeleteMy tip isn't to do a big spring clean. I find I hate cleaning in the spring and summer so I do mostly surface cleaning and wait until October it starts to get cold to do carpets, etc.
ReplyDeleteCan you say HUSBAND!! My sweet hubby has already vacummed and wiped all of the blinds and cleaned the baseboards. What a guy! Our house is for sale so we did our spring clean early.

I personally love Flylady (www.flylady.net). She says to set the timer for 15 min, and gives you different daily tasks to do. For me, this eliminates the over-perfectionist in me -- I start one job, make a big f-ing mess, then leave 1/2 of it because I've run out of time. This way, I know I only have 15 min, so I only do that much... and I don't pull everything out of the storage room, let's say, and then not have time to put it all back.
ReplyDeleteMake a list and do one things at a time. I also use Eucalyptus oil for everything. It's natural, non-toxic, it's a disinfectant and makes everything smell fresh. You can use it in your laundry to get that fresh smelling sheet smell, with warm water to dust everything. If you use reusable diapers it takes out the odor.
ReplyDeleteMy tip is to accidentily spill gasoline all over the house and then accidently light a match and then acciedntily buy all new clean stuff including a house. Maybe Susan's since her husband already cleaned it!
ReplyDeleteSpring Cleaning, what it that! There is always cleaning to be done. I do it year long and then you don't have to do it all at once, besides I have a dog that sheds like crazy year round. Must be nice to only clean a couple times a year! hehe
ReplyDeleteWho has time for spring cleaning? I would much rather be outside when the weather is nice gardening, bbqing, and going to the lake. I guess I am more like Lee-Anne and leave it till the fall.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I do do is go through my closet and switch out the fall for spring cloths and if I didn't wear it much this fall it gets donated instead of stored, plus it gives a an excuse for new cloths come fall ;)
Hmmmmm... my best tip? Take a garbage bag (or rubbermaid bin) and walk all over house putting as many giveaway things as you can in it. Maybe you can even use TWO! Then, bring them to the Salvage Centre, where junk can be someone's treasure!
ReplyDeleteI just have to say Lisa that is a great idea. My best tip mmmmm....start with one room at a time clean from top to bottom, then move to the next. Or you could also wine alot til your husband decied to help you, works for me anyways. Also I use Norwex odour eliminator of everything. In laundry( kills the musty smell the get from being wet and dry all the time)in a spritz bottle for all fabrics, in the wash pail. It smells just lovely.
ReplyDeleteMy best tip is to ignore it and hope it just goes away...could happen...don't ask to see my scrapbook desk
ReplyDeleteOur 'Spring Cleaning' happened in December when we moved! Why do all the projects get done, and the house always looks the best when you are moving and not there to enjoy it? For regular cleaning I've heard to set a timer and do it in bursts so it doesn't drag on and on.

My best tip is to turn up the stereo and get down to business and do not stop till it is done. The results at the end of the day will be worth the work.
