Layout #227

Tiny by Haley Ross
Here's the story behind this layout: I struggled all morning putting together the previous layout. And before I know it, it was 3pm and time for my scrapbooking buddy to head home. Usually I pack up once she leaves, but this time I kept going. And I started this layout. This layout is a rip-off of the layout she did before she left. And I love it. And it only took me an hour. So, thanks Michelle, for leaving me with a little inspiration.

Layout #224

Hopaluk by Haley Ross (Hopaluk for life!)
I love my family. My extended family. Not everyone is as lucky as I am. These people mean so much to me & have made me who I am today. I had (have) the best cousins growing up. Here is my yearly tribute to them. I used these super old canvas alphabet stickers & some old sticky canvas paper I found in my stash. In 2010 I only made 4 trips to a scrapbook store (and two online & home-party orders...) & I can see my stash dwindling before my eyes. I love it. Sometimes it feels so good to be thrifty & resourceful.

Layout #213

Keeping Up by Haley Ross
Last weekend I had some gals over to scrapbook... and by that I mean, I invited a few too many & ended up moving my couch, coffee table & husband (!) to squeeze 12 scrapbookers into my living room. My house is tiny but I think it went off well. This layout is the one of two that I finished this weekend. Some people might think 2 is a lot (some people like Lindsay...) but I usually pop off 12-18 on a weekend away. It was a loss for me. But I had fun & now I know the limits of our little bungalow. Thank you to everyone who came.

Layout #150

Go Fish by Haley Ross
Layout 150! I've done it! I've met my 2009 layout goal!
Oh wait... It's 2010. Dang.
Materials: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Patterned Paper: Making Memories; Flip Flaps: Close To My Heart; Stickers: Making Memories; Brads: Karen Foster; Acrylic Letters: ki memories; Other: Pop Dots.
This paper is adorable huh? And it's a couple years old. I love how making memories always has such good Halloween stuff. And a huge assortment of embellishments to chose from.
Well, my husband is busy in the kitchen making Chorizo Sausage and Sweet Potato Soup... so I thought I'd spend a part of the afternoon uploading all of these layouts. And for the most part (3 exceptions) these layouts were completed in 2009. So here they are.
Now to complete & post another 1o0 layouts bringing the total to 250 (I've lessened the challenge by 50 layouts... after all, I have another kid to contend with this year...) . Who thinks I can do it? (I didn't raise my hand). It's gonna be tough but I think I can manage. Here's hoping.

Layout 087

Presents by Haley Ross
I loved the card I got Brian a couple years ago so much. When you open it, Micheal Scott's voice says "Presents are the best way to show someone how much you care. It is like this tangible thing that you can point to and say "Hey man, I love you this many dollars worth". So funny. I wanted to include it on my layout of Brian getting his "dollars worth".

Its hard to wrap your head around Christmas, especially when it's 26 degrees out. But here it is, starting to arrive already! Making Memories new line Mistletoe arrived this morning, which is totally traditional & has super-cute double-sided paper. And, like they usually do, mm created gorgeous embellishments to match. So, if you're looking to beat the heat, maybe start with a little Christmas paper???

(seriously cute, non?)

Layout 062 & 063

Love/Hate
It's been a while since I scrapbooked. (You may be surprised to see an actual layout on this blog, let alone two.) Well, I had to post two, because I HATE the first one. It's ugly right? But I firmly believe that I should not re-do pages, or nothing would ever get done. So, I going to put this hideousness into my album & just be happy that the story has been told. If anyone has any great suggestions for adding to this monstrosity, let me know, otherwise, here it is. Ugly. So ugly I had to wait until I finished another page that I was satisfied with before I posted it, so I wouldn't be so revolted. You think I am being too dramatic? Check out this piece of work (below). I actually like the second layout. Back on track.... thank goodness.
What I learned at the Zoo by Haley Ross
I was excited to do this layout...but somewhere, something went wrong. I loved this paper so much, but in hindsight I think it was the wrong paper. I did use some old supplies, that buckle is ancient.
Materials: Patterned Paper: Sandylion, Lil Davis, ki memories and Chatterbox; Stcikers: Chatterbox; Paper Strip: Doodlebug Designs; Buckle & Overlay: making memories; Brads: Doodlebug Designs; Pen: EK Success Zip Writer; Other: Transparency.
Discover by Haley Ross
Redeemed myself. (I'm happy with this one.) I was especially happy to use some very, very old stock on this layout. The pewter accents & brads were just dust collectors. They are about 5 years old. I was happy to see them used.
Materials: Patterned Paper: Reminisce & ki memories; Cardstock: DCVW & Bazzill Basics; Loopy Brads & Scrappers Floss: Karen Foster; Pewter Embellishments: making memories; Pencil Crayons: Heidi Swapp; Cricut Cartridge: George.

Layout 046,047,048

Three years ago I decided to create an album (I saw the idea in a magazine) that had just one page for each year of my life. The single-page layout is mostly about the journaling, which sums up how I feel that year. My 28th birthday is tomorrow & I did my Me At 27 layout today (nothing like leaving it until the last minute).
I'll just add a little disclaimer: I only shortly posted the Me At 25 layout in my store. I took it down when I realised that some of what I wrote was a little opinionated/controversial for some people. Now, to be frank, I don't care if my opinions aren't the same as everyone else's. I don't intend to offend. So, here are the three layouts that make up my smallest album. It took 3 years for three pages! If you don't like what I have to say, that's ok, it's not your layout, it's mine :)

Layout 043

Party Pumpkin? by Haley Ross
Love, love, love the Halloween paper & die cuts from My Minds Eye. It comes all together in a package (with Die-cuts) for like, $7.99. I added some stuff, of course. And I have to admit I went a little overboard on this one.... it's a costly little sucker.
Old Stuff? Scalloped Ribbon, Transparency & Cardstock.

I'm so excited....

...and I just can't hide it.
The Slice Personal Cordless Cutter arrived in our store today.
So, naturally I took one home to have a play. I love it.
The downside is definitely the adhesive. It is mildy annoying. And I would recommend buying the large glass mat (it's just easier) But this thing is small (easy to take to a crop!), and super easy to use. And it's cordless (rechargeable batteries) so you don't have to be next to a plug in. Plus you get a lot on the cartridges that are only $45. (Much better than Cricut).
For more on this cool new machine check out whyslice.com
or pick it up in store for
$169.99 but only until January 5th
after that it's regular price ($199.99)

Layout 026

Friend by Haley Ross

This picture is pretty dark. Sorry. I am still getting the hang of my new camera lens.
I totally got some serious scrapbooking under my belt this weekend (a little on Friday & a lot on Saturday!). It felt good. I feel like I am making progress.
More American Crafts Thickers (sick of them yet? I'm not!) and making memories Tiny Alphabet (Like I said, BEST value). The main background paper is the new K&Co. Urban Rhapsody. So hot. I love it. And if you've run out of lined paper from Scenic Route it is back in stock (for the time being....) I love that stuff. Can't get enough. Perfect for me, because I love to journal. I even did a little stamping on this layout...
Which supplies did I get from my stash (As per my 2008 Scrapbook Goal)? The canvas tab (been in there forever), flowers, brads & brown ribbon. Woohoo!

Materials: Patterned Paper: K&Co., Anna Griffin, My Minds Eye, Scenic Route; Alphabet Stickers: American Crafts & making memories; Ribbon: May Arts & making memories; Flowers: Prima; Brads: making memories & Basic Grey; Stamp: Paper Inspirations; Ink: Ancient Page; Canvas Tab: Scrapworks; Pen: EK Success Zig Writer

New

This new book from making memories is packed full of great ideas (not just 12x12 layouts!). If you've had a chance to pick up some of the new Animal Crackers line, then you'll want to get your hands on it today. But the best part? (Drum roll please) It is $19.99 US and Canadian. Heck yeah!

Thursday, April 17, 2008

If I wasn't pregnant...

I would still be 100%, head over heels, in LOVE with the new line from making memories. Animal Crackers has two lines, Ella, for sweet baby girls, and Jack for tiny little boys. Both lines are soft & fresh. Perfect.
Like most FAB making memories lines there are great patterned papers to choose from, but even better embellishments (they can do no wrong).
Epoxy Buttons. Felt Buttons. Stickers. Velvet Brads. Ribbons. Journaling Cards. And ooooh, you'll love the albums & embellishments kits to match.

I'm suddenly wishing I knew if I was having a boy or a girl....

Spring has Sprung!

Spring & Easter products are starting to arrive.... Check out the cute epoxy embellishments from making memories (pictured above). Their Garden Party line is totally cute.
We also LOVE the Imaginisce spring papers (below), double-sided & glittery.

Reminisce Easter papers (pictured below) have a shimmer to them. And they are double-sided. Great for cardmaking, but best of all is the yellow "chicks" paper (come & check it out!) with matching rub-ons & stickers.
